Import Contacts

Overview

channelADMIN provides streamlined tools create contacts and accounts from spreadsheet imports. You can start with the provided template, or upload your own file and use the field mapper to get your fields to line up with the channelADMIN standard fields.

Import Modes

  • Sales Contacts Use this option for contacts that will use channelLEADS. Contacts imported this way will automatically be tagged Sales and have the Can receive leads? option turned on.
  • Co-op Contacts Use this option for contacts that will use channelFUNDS. Contacts imported this way will automatically be tagged Co-op.
  • Other Contacts Use this option for contacts that you want in the system only for reference purposes. They will not be tagged.

Mini-FAQ

  • What if I want to upload multiple contacts for a single account? Just use the same account name and system will only create a new account the first time it sees the account name. The other contacts will just be associated with account.
  • How do I put accounts into markets? In the market field in the import, just put your market details hierarchically using the > as the separater. For example, to an account into the Northeast market under the USA market, enter USA>Northeast The system will automatically create new markets as needed.

Process

Contact import is a snap in channelADMIN:

  1. Grab an export (in XLS format) from your address book or CRM, or copy and paste them into the template.
  2. Upload your file.
  3. We'll analyze your file and figure out how your data is laid out.
  4. You confirm our or tweak the mappings we worked out.
  5. We preview what will happen. You'll see exactly what accounts, contacts, and locations will be created. If there's problems in the data, we'll let you fix them without needing to upload again.
  6. …and you're done!
